Arts Council England champions and develops art and culture across the country, investing public money to help bring great art and culture to everyone. This year’s Northern Design Festival is supported by Arts Council England and we are also working with the following partners.
Newcastle College delivers art and design courses in its purpose built Mandela Building, where students have access to first class facilities including fully equipped design studios; a ceramics studio; inspiring drawing, painting and sculpture studios; a dedicated art and design library and resource area; fully equipped wood and metal workshops with CNC and laser cutting facilities; and a screen printing studio.
JUMP is a full-service creative agency based here in the North East. As well as creating the identity for this year’s Northern Design Festival, they have worked with clients including the National Trust, the People’s Theatre and NE1.
Cleveland College of Art and Design offers unique creative degrees supported by the highest quality of teaching and a community in which to develop as a successful artist or designer. Their unique, extensive, dedicated facilities provide students with the best opportunity to excel.
Newcastle Arts Centre Limited was founded as an arts development company in 1981. Since then it has brought back to use a group of nine abandoned buildings in the city centre, including our Festival venue The Assembly House, and has provided home for dozens of arts related companies. Newcastle Arts Centre now has 89,000 visitors a year, making it one of the most active independent arts centres in England.
The Crafts Council has been supporting makers for over four decades. Their new programme is a bespoke offer of day-long or half-day learning opportunities throughout the country. Workshops strike a balance between information-led and practical training, always in a friendly, open atmosphere that encourages discussion and informal networking.
RIBA champions better buildings, communities and the environment through architecture. RIBA North East acts as a co-ordinating body between chartered architects, allied building professionals and the public in the North East. The overarching aim is the advancement of architecture and the delivery of high standards of design and fitness for purpose within the built environment.
