To mark Design Event’s tenth birthday we are working with Newcastle Arts Centre and will be taking over the Assembly House – a stunning Grade II* listed building on Westgate Road in Newcastle city centre.
Our programme builds on the amazing decade of design showcased so far. The Design Event MART will feature work by the best designers emerging from across the North of England and we’re thrilled to be part of the UK launch of David Irwin’s M Lamp, originally developed with investment from Design Event. Our Crafts Council partnership showcases work by leading emerging makers from their Hothouse programme and we have selected 10 rugs from NODE’s beautiful hand made collection of rugs by Chris Haughton, Sanna Annukka and Oliver Jeffers amongst others.
We are delighted to be working with the RIBA this year to present innovative design ideas in their Work in Progress exhibition, and to present Design Talks with William Russell, partner at Pentagram and Chris Haughton, illustrator and founder of NODE. 2015 is also Deadgood’s tenth birthday and they will be presenting a selection of products from their latest range, as well as sponsoring our Architects Breakfast.
The Festival will take place from 21-25 October 2015 at The Assembly House, 55 Westgate Road, Newcastle-upon-Tyne NE1 1SG. The nearest Metro / train is Newcastle Central Station. Opening times are 10:00 – 18:00 Wednesday & Thursday, 10:00 – 17:00 Friday & Saturday and 11:00 – 17:00 Sunday.
Tickets are priced £2.50 for exhibition entry (free for under 18s), £5 for individual talks, or £11 for a Festival pass (unlimited entry to exhibitions and two talks). You can buy tickets on the door and income will contribute to the ongoing renovation of The Assembly House.
