Products ordered through the Design Event site are dispatched direct from the designer to you. This means that products ordered get to you as soon as possible.
Please note that delivery timescales identified are estimates only. We will endeavor to deliver within these timescales but they are non-binding.
Delivery is made to the address submitted by you as the delivery address for this order on the Design Event site. You must check the delivery address on any acknowledgement or acceptance we provide and notify us immediately of any errors or omissions.
We reserve the right to charge you for any extra costs arising from changes you make to the delivery address after you submit an order.
Returns and exchanges
Any orders that have been made and are for products that are made to order can not be returned. If products are received in a damaged state, then a replacement will be sent as soon as possible upon receiving written notification in line with our terms and conditions.
If you are requesting a return or exchange you must contact Design Event via email at email@example.com within 7 working days of receiving the product.
Design Event will then liaise with the designer in question and email you with the designer’s contact details.
Products must be returned in a sellable condition at your own cost and risk direct to the designer, as soon as possible. Payment for the product will be credited to your credit or debit card once the returned product has been received and confirmed that it has not been used and is in a sellable condition.
Products must be returned in their original packaging and sent via registered post and with appropriate insurance.
If products are damaged or not what you have ordered, Design Event will re-imburse the customer with the cost of returning the products.
Please note that when returning a product, the parcel is your responsibility until it reaches us. We recommend that you ask your post office for proof of postage (available free of charge).
Once payment has been received by us for your order; we will send you an email to inform you that your order has been accepted. Our acceptance of your order is confirmation that we have entered into a legally binding contract between us, that has the following terms and conditions.
Product prices are detailed on our website and are inclusive of VAT. Each product has its own delivery charge. Overseas orders may be subject to import duties and taxes and it is the responsibility of the purchaser to pay for these charges.
As a consumer, you are legally entitled to a ‘cooling-off period’ of up to 7 working days from the date of delivery of your products. During this time you may cancel your order for any reason without penalty. The right to cancel terminates if your product is made to order or if the product has been used.
All cancellation notices must be made in writing to Design Event, and either sent via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by hand or post to Design Event, Baltic 39, 39 High Bridge, Newcastle NE1 1EW. Design Event will then email you with the appropriate designer’s contact details.

We reserve the right to cancel the contract between us if :
• We have insufficient stock to deliver the goods to you
• One or more of the goods you ordered was listed at an incorrect price due to a typing error or incorrect information received from our suppliers
• If we do cancel your order we will notify you via email as soon as possible and credit any payments made by you to your credit or debit card.
We make every effort to ensure that colours of products appear as realistic as possible. However, due to the constraints of digital reproduction we cannot guarantee exact colour depiction. Every care is taken to ensure descriptions and measurements are accurate, however slight variations may occur.
All product prices, information and descriptions made or referred to on the site are subject to availability. We make every effort to ensure that items appearing on the site are available but cannot guarantee this and so may reject your order without liability. If we are unable to process your order we will refund any payments made.
Liability and Guarantee
If the products we deliver to you are damaged, or not what you have ordered, we shall have no liability to you unless you inform us of the problem in writing (by email or post) in 7 working days of the delivery of the products.
If you notify us of the problem within 7 working days our liability and guarantee shall be to replace or repair the products or refund the value of the products in question. We shall have no liability to you to pay any compensation other than the value of the products in question.
Upon receipt of your notification we shall liaise with the designer and reply to you via email to arrange refund or replacement as requested and subject to availability.
If products are damaged or not what you have ordered, British by Design will re-imburse the customer with the cost of returning the products.
Should a product be withdrawn or discontinued then you will be offered either a full refund or an alternative product.
Events beyond our control
Design Event has no liability to you for failure to deliver orders or any delay in delivery or damage or defect to goods that is caused by any event or circumstance beyond our reasonable control including, without limitation, strikes, lock-outs and other industrial disputes, breakdown of systems or network access, flood, fire, explosion or accident.
By using the Design Event website you agree that any personal data including, name, telephone number and address that you submit or make available to us through the site will be managed under our privacy statement as follows.
We may collect, store and process personal data submitted by you for the following purposes :
– processing your order on the site
– dealing with any enquiries you have submitted
– maintaining our records
If you have registered on the site to receive email updates on new products and Design Event news, then your data will also be used for this purpose.
Your data will not be shared with any third parties.
You are responsible for the password and security used to register onto the site and to view your account information.
The contract you enter into with Design Event and our privacy statement are governed by and interpreted in accordance with English law and the English courts shall have jurisdiction to resolve any disputes between us.
