From one of the founding members of Neasden Control Centre Marcus Diamond, Magnetic North looks at the mapping and topology of certain points, people and memories throughout the North East landscape. Opposites and divisions such as positive and negative and north and south encompass the work and its themes of absence, occupancy and reaction.
The spaces selected for this project hold memories from the past for Marcus but they have also changed significantly since then and the work is designed to question how we move through and react to a specific place. As well as exploring and documenting these changes the work examines the process of the construction of memory allowing the viewer to question their own memories.
The exhibition includes images / installation and a set of limited edition books.
