Amy Zalin
A concept driven designer, Amy Zalin’s aim is to create engaging pieces that make people think, provide a talking point and leave them with a smile on their face. Through her debut range, Plain English, Amy seeks to preserve the charm and wisdom of English sayings by humorously interpreting the words through her designs. The captivating results include; a ‘Making a Mountain out of Molehill’ Kit, the ‘Dinner is Served’ ceramics and the ‘Who’s There’ door knocker.
The ‘Make a Mountain out of a Molehill’ kit contains everything you need to literally make a mountain out of a molehill. The laser cut stainless steel trees, stags, moles, bears and much more fix into the ground with spikes, allowing them to be moved to your hearts content.
Amy has produced 3 other kits for those without molehills, which will let you let your imagination run wild. A puddle becomes a lakeside scene, a patch of moss an idyllic rural pasture and a patio an urban scene. You can even use them to liven up your plant pots or herb gardens, making them the ideal present for any age.
With her tongue, once again, firmly in her cheek, Amy’s ceramic collection celebrates four classic British idioms. ‘Signature Dish’ a dish embellished with the words ‘Sign here…’; ‘Enough on my Plate’, a plate and side dish with ‘Enough’ printed on it, ‘Glass half full…’ a glass with the words ‘half’ and full’ split in half and a tea cup with ‘Not My’ emblazoned on the front. The truth is however, that this elegant and witty ceramic range will be everyone’s cup of tea.
Finally, providing a humorous twist on the Great British tradition of ‘knock, knock, who’s there’ jokes, Amy’s ‘Who’s There’ brass door knocker will make everyone smile and give doors up and down the country a new lease of life.
